Does Sweating Help You Lose Weight?


We are a believer of intense physical workouts as the key to our well-being. But sometimes, given the increased pressure put on pouring liquid out of your sweat-drenched pores, have had to question whether sweating helps you lose weight - or it's just the be all and end all. Our body needs to sweat in order to regulate its temperature. And the more you perspire, the higher your core temperature will rise.

Sweating helps remove excess sodium and water from your body. When you perspire, your body also flushes out toxins that can contribute to high blood pressure, diabetes and other health problems. If you've been exercising for a while but still have trouble losing weight, sweating might be the answer. So how does sweating help you lose weight?

The main reason why sweating helps you lose weight is because it helps break up the water retention in your body. When you perspire, your body releases extra water and salt, making your stool more concentrated. This enables your digestive system to process food faster. This leads to faster burning of calories and hence weight loss

That in turn, helps increase your resting metabolic rate (RMR) to boost fat burning.

Fourth, sweating helps stimulate your immune system. Most people suffer from illnesses like the common cold and influenza at some point in their lives. These ailments usually bring about high fever and sore throat. Excessive perspiration triggers your body's natural response to fight off these viruses and germs.

Finally, sweating helps increase your lymphatic drainage. When you exercise and sweat, some of the fluids that are retained by the skin are drained off. This allows fluids to be eliminated from your body which helps in flushing toxins and wastes away.

So does sweating help you lose weight? Not only does it help you lose weight but it is also a very effective natural weight loss method. It boosts your metabolism and makes you feel energetic. Excess perspiration also helps increase your BMR, blood circulation and boosts your immune system. All these make you lose weight in the long run.

However, do note that this does not work overnight. It is a process where you need to continuously work on it. Perspiring everyday till you are unable to do so anymore, will eventually help you achieve your goal. It does not matter if you are overweight or not. Perspiring does not have to mean that you are exercising every single day.

You can start small with just a light workout session each day. Then as you see the results, you can increase your intensity. When you do this, you are actually burning fat even without sweating. As a result, you will be able to lose more weight in a healthier way.

So if you ask me, does sweating help you lose weight? Yes. You will not really see it happen overnight but remember that it is a long term process. The first few weeks might seem hard to do especially when you are starting from scratch. But keep on going and you will see results in no time at all. Sweating can help you lose weight if you are not in a bad health condition or if you are already overweight.

Just remember that if you are healthy, you do not have to sweat to loose weight. Exercising and working out are the key to a healthier you. If you are overweight, you may want to consult a doctor before engaging in any kind of activity that increases your heart rate and blood pressure. So if you are healthy, sweating will not really help you lose weight.
